Invalid Clicks

We previously outlined the common causes of changes in clicks; however there is another factor that can determine an increase in clicks.

This is known as invalid clicks, which can involve either repeated manual clicking or the use of an automated clicking device. Why does this occur?

There are various reasons why, although frequent reasons are the intent of an advertiser to drive up other advertiser’s clicks, (so that advertiser on the PPC pricing system pays more money) or to increase a publisher’s earnings.

An invalid click is a problem taken very seriously by Google, who have implemented technology to analyse trends and patterns that may point towards artificial clicks
